This was a toy design project where my role was fabricator. the purpose of the project is to encourage kids to play outside so we wanted to design a toy that is adaptable and sturdy for out door play. It has bendable legs and an open mouth which allows kids to be more flexible with play. the story book also has prompts that can get the kids started on their outdoor adventure with their new friend.
My class mates designed the character and the story and I brought it to life. It is made of an old towel and felt. Inside its legs is wire wrapped in upholstery foam so that the legs are poseable and can be wrapped around a tree or a child's shoulders. The kids had great fun with this toy on our play day. The design was nominated for a Massey Design award
