Bunny and Fish - Fabrication project

Puppets are fascinating tools of meaningful storytelling that draw in the audience through empathy and imagination. Applying theories about how puppets are perceived as living characters, and the tactile experience of haptic visuality, this project demonstrates the artistic value of handmade characters to enhance the narrative and viewing experience of live action fantasy films. My puppets are stylized but with a sense of realism to enhance their believability for audiences.
This large scale puppet project inspired by the Labyrinth and Where the Wild Things Are films, showcases my passion for hand made artwork, practical effects for film and puppetry. My focus was on texture and movement to make the creatures really feel alive.
